Today my friend Jacqueline deMontravel the editor of Romantic Homes shot a story for the first issue of her new magazine Yum, out in June.

Just in time for Father’s day we were the “family” that has a special pancake breakfast on dad’s day. My husband even came home from work to jump in a shot or two while flipping pancakes. The afternoon went fast and the kids were glad to get to come home early from school to participate. PJ’s and pancakes in the afternoon…FUN!

I never seem to have enough reasons to use all of my china, Jacqueline dug out some of my old favorites to use.

Making the perfect pancake, we found this pancake ring/mold that helped us shape ‘perfect’ round pancakes at Sur La Table in Santa Monica.

Pink and Blue were the color themes!

Lots of fun toppings for the pancakes…chocolates, berries, peanut butter (my kids favorite) and much more!

Kids and my friend and photographer Bret Gum, everyone had fun in the kitchen.

The best part was the end…when we ate all the props!

Once again we had another successful book signing at one of my favorite stores Blue Springs Home in Costa Mesa, California. The store owner Susan Ellison has been a long time friend of mine and a supporter of my collections. She has carried our bedding lines for the past 10 years and her store is simply the best in the Orange County area. She has a unique array of products including great gifts and art. One thing I LOVE about the flats of San Francisco is that you are asked to build innovative architecture and living spaces with in the confines of a small space. Although the city is 7×7 miles, there are so many districts to explore that it could take 7 years to discover them all. I happened to be there last week for a special event showcasing the new Union-SF residences in the heart of the Mission District. The units were incredible, and just like the city, each one invited guests to experience a unique home décor design. My Mannequin Exhibition followed me to the event and to my delight, they were the delicious icing to the many layers of Union-SF. Walking through the residences was like walking through the style guide in The Well Dressed Home and seeing it come to life.

THE COUTURE RESIDENCE was reminiscent of a city girls flat in Pacific Heights, preferably close to the most fabulous boutiques and patisseries.

THE CLASSIC RESIDENCE might be found in Nob Hill where its occupant was always in walking distance of an old style café or perfectly manicured gardens.

THE ECO RESIDENCE would be nestled into Portrero Hill and most definitely furnished with a green, yet hip state of mind.

As many of you know, I hosted a book signing party for my new book The Well Dressed Home on Wednesday of this week. It was such a wonderful evening and we had such a great turn out. I will be creating a larger post with the entire back end story of the creation of the beautiful mannequins which represented the different fashion styles in my new book. Photos don’t do them ANY justice! For now I will have to leave you all with a small sneak peak.

Last week I went to Burning Man a festival in Black Rock City, Nevada. I have to tell you it was an experience. I have never seen anything like it. Creativity flowed from everywhere. Desert sculptures and structures dotted the playa “runway” and provided an amazing stage for the party to begin. Art cars roamed the turf filled with happy people floating within.

With nature providing an amazing desert back drop combined with Thursday nights full moon the Burning Man non stop parade was fantastic. Re visit the fashion, the art and the people that make this event a collection of one of a kind…
